Gaelic Football

Gaelic football, a team sport that originated in Ireland, is of vital importance to Irish culture and identity, as well as to the Celtic nations.

The game combines elements of football and rugby, symbolizing both national pride and the preservation of Celtic culture.

This sport is played on a rectangular pitch, generally larger than a football field, with H-shaped goals at each end.

Teams are made up of 15 players, and the aim of the game is to score points by passing the ball, a round ball, between the opposing goalposts or over the crossbar.

Did you know?

There's a rule that says you have to have an Irish flag on the pitch (often hanging from the top of the goalposts) to be able to play a match. Without the flag, the match cannot start.
