Varpa
Varpa is an outdoor game that dates back to the Viking Age, but has survived on the island of Gotland in Sweden.
It's a game of skill similar to pétanque, but played with a flat, heavy object called a "varpa" instead of balls. A varpa can weigh between half a kilo and five kilos. In the past, varpas were made of stone, but today they are made of aluminum.
The aim of the game is to throw the varpa as close as possible to a stick. The stick is located 15 meters away for women and 20 meters away for men. The game can be played individually or in teams.
