Rink Hockey
Rink field hockey, also known as skate field hockey, is a variant of field hockey played on traditional skates, often called quads. Originating in 1877, the sport was initially dominated by the Anglo-Saxons, but over the years Latin countries have gained the upper hand in major international competitions.
In nations such as Portugal, Spain, Italy and Argentina, rink field hockey is a hugely popular professional sport, attracting passionate crowds. Spain's Catalonia region is particularly fervent about the sport, and is home to some of the best clubs in the world. The Spanish national rink field hockey team is reputed to be the best in the world, with 16 continental and 15 world titles to its credit.
