Indiaka

Originating in South America, indiaka has its roots in an ancient Brazilian sport called pétéca.

Although unknown for a long time, it shares many similarities with volleyball and badminton.

Played on a slightly smaller court, it pits two teams of 5 or 6 players against each other, who exchange an indiaka, a "big shuttlecock" made of four red feathers on a foam or leather base.

It is practised in a few European countries, such as Luxembourg, which hosted the last world championships in 2022, winning the senior mixed category.

Did you know?

The game emerged from its local dimension in the 1920s, when Brazilian athletes played to warm up for the Olympic Games.
